To #StayAtHome or Stay Hungry? Inequality is the Greatest Pandemic Latin America has ever Faced

Abstract

This qualitative case study analyzed narratives collected from Brazilian and Mexican populations. The goal was to understand how social classes materialize and operate during the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings showed that inequality in the form of social classes makes it difficult for certain groups to access social, cultural, and economic rights (ESCR). Consequently, the lack of access to ESCR can then be the difference between life and death for those in a historically disadvantaged position.
